Blueberry Cheese Tart

 As i'm updating this entry, I can hear Alysa & Adik chatting in their bedroom. Mata tak boleh lelap le tu coz masa kitaorang on the way balik from shopping tadi diorang terlelap dalam kereta. It's their habit. Suka tertidur dalam kereta. Cool & cozy kut. Ntah apa le diorang sembang dalam gelap tu..
 Ni nak share resepi yang i try. Ni time angin rajin le ni. Dah lama tak rajin cam ni..:-). Actually rasa masa my sis, Ila bagi hari tu. Mmg sedap. Tapi since I pegi ambik kat rumah dia on the way to work, cuma Hubby & I je la yang rasa. The princesses tak sempat rasa coz mama & papa dah habiskan..haha..So, after bertangguh a few times, at last jadi jugak tartku. Alysa really loooove it. Sekali hadap sampai 3 slices! Adik & Baby kureng sikit. Adik kan mmg kaki diet. Yang fattening mmg dia tak suka. Hish..kecik2 dah jaga body. Tu yang sekeping je..This tart mmg sedap. Alysa call it " Spiderweb Pie". Kut rupa dia ada spiderweb kut..hehe..

 Bahan-bahan ( 10 biji )


Bahan untuk Sweet Pastry:-
125 gm mentega / margerin
60 gm gula aising
1 biji telur (gred B) saiz sederhana besar
240 gm tepung gandum

Bahan untuk Cheese Filling(inti):-
250 gm cream cheese
50 gm gula aising
20 gm mentega (lembutkan)
1/2 sudu besar perahan lemon
1 biji telur (gred B)
Blueberry pie filling

Cara-Cara :
1.Panaskan ketuhar pada suhu 180 C.
2.Untuk membuat sweet pastry: -pukul mentega/marjerin dan gula aising sampai creamy. masukkan telur, pukul lagi. Selepas itu masukkan tepung. Gaul hingga membentuk doh. Tekankan doh tadi ke dalam bekas tart. Tekan kedalam kemas-kemas. Trim tepinya dengan batang sudu atau pisau. Bakar pada suhu 180 C untuk 15-20 minit. Tunggu sejuk dulu baru keluarkan daripada acuan tart.
3.Untuk membuat cheese filling: -pukul cream cheese, mentega dan gula aising till fluffy. Akhir sekali masukkan telur dan perahan lemon, pukul.
4.Sendukkan cheese filling tadi kedalam piping bag dan pipekan kedalam doh tart yang sudah dibakar tadi. Hiaskan diatas dengan blueberry filling dan susun diatas dulang pembakar dan bakar pada suhu 180 C selama 10 minit atau filling tadi nampak macam kering sedikit.
 
Note: I guna a big tart dish. Senang gitu..:-)

What's in the name?

 Currently, I ( actually, my company ) have a new project. We're producing and lauching a new range of products. So, of course la one of the most important thing is to find a name that has commercial value  and also has a sentimental value to Hubby & I. My name has been used for a different line. So, nak kena cari nama lain. Anak ada 3, so kalau pilih satu nanti nampak cam pilih kasih le pulak..hehe..But finally we have decided on a name. Ada le criteria why we chose this name. Nanti bila dah confirm project ni baru boleh wat official announcement. :-) Hopefully in a month or two...
 Sehari dua ni ada le masak benda lain selain dari main meals yang memang nak kena masak. Actually, I dah tak tau nak masak apa. The other day I told Hubby I tak lalu makan ikan. So, he stocked up our fridge with chickens & beef. Almost hari2 I masak chicken sampai now ni I pulak yang dah naik muak dgn chicken. Baru ni masa I balik kg, boleh pulak makan ikan. So, I told hubby I tak larat dah telan chicken. Tadi, pagi2 buta dia ke market beli all the seafood. Tapi yang pasti I mmg tak lalu udang. Even during my 2nd & 3rd pregnancies. Masa pregnant kat Alysa I tak lalu langsung dgn chicken. Udang / lobster suka pulak. Mcm2  tekak org preggie ni..
 Yesterday I made Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes to eat with mutton shoulder. Resepi kat sini. Oklah since dah lama tak makan western ni. Alysa mmg suka beef & mutton steak. She ate with tomato sauce which I found yucky. I rasa now I dah turned off tgk tomato sauce coz Alysa ate everything with lotsa tomato sauce..*sigh*..
 Last nite pulak nak menghabiskan stok mango yg Hubby beli kat Tapah, I made mango mousse. Alysa tak suka but Adik & Baby love it.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Bahan-bahan ( 3-4 orang )

200g yogurt tanpa perisa ( I used yogurt perisa orange carrot )
100ml susu segar
1-2 biji mango
16g gula
5g gelatin + 1 sudu besar air panas

Cara-cara
1.Kupas kulit mango. Masukkan semua bahan kecuali gelatin ke dalam blender or mixer. Mix sehingga semuanya sebati.
2.Masukkan pula gelatin. Mix lagi dalam 1-2 minit.
3.Tuang ke dalam acuan. Sejukkan dalam peti sejuk.
4.Hiaskan dengan mango yg dipotong dadu sebelum dimakan.

Cuti-Cuti Langkawi


Last weekend we went to Langkawi. The first visit for the princesses. They were thrilled at boarding a ferry. We took a ferry at Kuala Perlis which took about 45 min.

 Actually, our plans went awry..all because of a problem with car rental. We booked a car thru an agent in Kuala Perlis. Bila sampai Langkawi, tup2, kereta tak de. Petang baru sampai. So, we told them to sent the car to our hotel the next day. Masa diaorang picked us up to go to their office to fill up the forms, tiba2 minyak habis tgh jln. Then, mcm2 problems that we ended up cancelling the booking. Geram gak.But we made do with taxis.

 Nasib we stayed at Bayview hotel, which is in the middle of pekan Kuah. So, senang le nak jalan & shopping. Bayview mmg selesa untuk family. The room  & bathroom are spacious. But, next time it'd be nice to stay at Pantai Cenang. Nice Chalets. The last time we went, we stayed at Holiday Villa.

For this anniversary, Hubby gave something that I actually need. Since, modem & wifi kat office gelong after kilat hari tu, it was difficult to access my emails at work. This gift is handy. Thanks dear. Actually, I ni techno-phobia..:-) The funny thing was, masa I bukak wrapping paper & nampak logo apple tu, I still blur lagi apa hadiah tu..:D . My previous hp sumenye Nokia. I only used it for making calls & sms. Lain2 tu tak explore pun..Tapi with this new phone, kena le explore. I'm still trying to..Now, I have to carry around 3 phones..Leceh betul..Nak kena get rid 1. His gift I suruh pilih sendiri..hehe..tak romantic betul ..Beli kat langkawi..

Anniversaries

Today is this blog's 1st anniversary. It's been a year since I've been writing stuff about my princesses, family and my trial & error in cooking. It's been great too knowing cyber friends whom i've never met but love reading stuff that happened in their lives. Some are great cooks too, the skills that I'd love to have one day...:-)
 Today is also our 11th wedding anniversary. Thanks Sayang for the wonderful years that we shared. Sometimes I wondered that I must've done some good deeds to deserve a great hubby like you...:-). Hope we'll have more exciting years ahead of us.
 For this wedding anniversary, we head to Langkawi where we spent our honeymoon. It's been 11 years since we went there. Punya la lama.... This time the princesses will go there for the 1st time. Before this, susah le nak bawak diorang yang kecik lagi. This time pun susah gak...Tapi angkut je lah..Initial plan nak ke Kota Kinabalu, tapi tak jadi le pulak. Langkawi pun oklah..dekat sikit. Will update the photos when I get back.

Nostalgia Ayam Masak Tomato

When I was studying in AUSMAT, ptg2 mesti ke gerai2 kat seksyen 2 cari dinner. 1 gerai that was most frequented was gerai abang wan ( rasanya betul la nama dia ni..:-) ) which served masakan ala siam. One of the menu that I normally ordered was ayam masak merah. Ni bukan version goreng ayam dulu. Ni yang ayam dia potong kecik2. My roomates would normally order ayam masak pedas. Ni sedap gak but since I tak makan pedas, tak mo le menangis lak sambil makan..:-). Mmg ramai gak yang pelik coz Kedahan yg tak makan pedas..but nak wat camne kan, dah masa kecik2 dulu mak ajar makan nasi dgn kicap, so maintain sampai la..hehe..Nasib anak2 tak gelap macam kicap!
 Lunch lak, selalu ke gerai akak kelantan yang pakai gelang emas sampai ke siku. Ala2 mami jarum gitu.. But, in those days, snatch theft was not that rampant like now. Kalau tak, maunye kena kerat tangan akak tu..Bergemilauan emas dia. Boleh buta bakal2 snatch thieves! I like the fried keli & ayam percik at her stall. Mmg moist. But, I digress.
 Back to ayam masak merah tu, kekadang bila teringat nak makan, I wat sendiri. But my version is Ayam masak tomato coz I tak guna the sauces. I used fresh tomatoes & chillis. Rasa tu lebih kurang le cuma colour tu lari sikit. My version is bright red. The stall's version was a bit reddish orange. The princesses mmg tak makan. Takut pedas eventhough tak pedas pun. But the colour made them stop from tasting it.

Ayam Masak Tomato


Bahan:
1 mangkuk ayam, potong kecil
1 biji tomato
3 biji cili besar
1 celery stick / sedikit daun sup, di hiris
1 ulas bawang merah, hiris
1 ulas bawang putih, hiris
1/2 in halia
Garan & gula secukup rasa
Sedikit minyak untuk menumis

Cara:
1. Kisar tomato & cili dengan sedikit air.
2. Tumis bawang merah / putih & halia sehingga naik bau.
3. Masukkan ayam & kacau rata.
4. Masukkan tomato & cili yang telah dikisar. Renehkan sehingga ayam empuk. Tambah air jika perlu.
5. Tambah garam & gula.
6. Taburkan hirisan celery / daun sup.

All Girls Weekend

 Actually tersangatlah jarangnye we all kena tinggal anak-beranak je..:-) But, last weekend, Hubby had to atttend a half- day course in KL, then, since dah a few hours drive je to Batu Pahat, he decided to drive to BP. Yelah kan..dah lama tak jumpa mommy..hehe..Since mother's day dah lepas, & we still haven't given MIL the souvenir from Beijing, that was a good time for him to balik kampung.
 Not that I tak suka balik BP..:-),  tapi at the moment, I'm not allowed to travel long distance.( With the exception of Langkawi la.. we're going there soon..). Kalau tak, confirm I ikut dia. Boleh gak ronda2 KL & visit some friends who had threatened to not come over to our house anymore, since kitaorang tak pernah ke rumah they all..hehe..Padahal diaorang dah datang rumah we all a few times. Yelah, nak wat camne, dah kebetulan diaorang datang Penang. Time we all ke KL, diorang lak tak de kat KL, balik kg lah..
 So, last weekend tinggal me & the princesses je la. Since on Saturday I had to run some errands, the princessses were left home with Cik Jun. Masak pun very sempoi. Since Alysa & Adik had been requesting for pasta, I made fried macaroni for everybody. Senang keja mama. For dessert, I made brownies.
Then on Sunday ( normally our outing day..), Alysa ajak keluar. I told her tak boleh le since Papa was not around. Sape nak kepong diorang. Alysa said ' Okay la Mama..all girls je..'. Hish, tak kuase I. Buatnye Baby throw tantrum kat Shopping complex, camne I nak handle? Kuat merajuk betul dia now ni. So, we spent the day washing Hubby's car which I never did. Yelah dia dah bawak my car, tinggal je la keta dia utk dicuci..Then ptg bawak diorang ke playground. I was expecting Hubby would be home by the earliest 8pm since dia bertolak from BP at 2pm. Tup2 7.30 dah call cakap nak sampai dah & ajak keluar dinner. Since Baby tido la pulak, so tak jadi keluar..

Ingredients:
2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnut halves

Directions:
1.Melt the butter or margarine and mix all ingredients in the order given.
2.Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 to 30 minutes in a 9 x 13 inch greased pan.

Snip, Snip & Beef Eggplant Stew

Alysa loves having long hair but she likes to let it loose. Tapi yang tak laratnye time sikat rambut! Since she has curly hair, I dreaded the time of combing her hair. Rambut dia dah panjang sampai tengah belakang. Her papa forbade me to cut her hair. When we were in Jakarta last year, K.Jun managed to cut her front fringe. Terpendek le pulak. Terus Hubby tak happy muka anak dia toye je..:D. Makin nampak le kebulatan dia.
 The other day on weekends, hubby got to handle their bath time. Time dia sikat rambut Alysa..ha baru dia tau betapa susahnya nak manage her hair! Tu after dah letak Sunsilk Leave On. So, dia pulak yang tanya Alysa nak potong rambut tak. As usual la, Alysa tak bagi. Pujuk ajak pegi hairdresser pun tak mau. So, we gave permission to Cik Jun to cut her hair. Masa tgh mandi petang, masa Cik Jun tgh shampoo rambut dia, terus snip ( as Adik loves to say it.. ) je rambut Alysa. Nasib sama & dia pun tak sedar. But, later after kitaorang puji rambut baru dia cantik, dia ok je la..hehe..

Hari tu I ada wat Beef Eggplat Stew. I first had this dish at Turkish Mum restaurant. Baru nak post photo. Normally, kalau eggplant ni, buat sambal or dalca je. Tapi instead of using minced beef mcm kat restaurant tu, I used sliced beef. Simple but nice.

Beef & Eggplant Stew


Ingredients:
300gm beef , sliced
1 eggplant, cut into small pieces & fried.
1 tomato, cut into 6 pieces
1 capsicum, chopped
1 garlic, thinly sliced
1 shallot, thinly sliced
1 onion, sliced
1 inch ginger, thinly sliced
3 tbs tomato sauce / paste
water
salt / sugar to taste

Directions:
1. Fry the garlic, shallot and ginger until fragrant. Add onion. Then add in the beef until cook.Pour in tomato sauce
2. Add capsicum, tomato, onion and the fried eggplant followed by water.
3. Season with salt and sugar and let the stew simmer until a bit thickened.
4. Serve with rice.

Mother's Day & The Not Meant To Be Twin

I woke up on Sunday to the sound of " Mama, papa beli bear kat mama..Mama, papa beli bear kat mama.." in like a zillion times! :-) . Then, " Mama, papa suruh bangun.." . Again, repeatedly. If you knew Adik, If I continued to sleep, my ears would be ringing with the same phrases the whole day! :D. Well, she actually could do that if she put her mind to it.
 So, reluctantly I woke up & wash my face. Then, she said " Happy mother's day!" chirpily. For a 3 y.o who actually couldn't comprehend what mother's day is all about, she actually did a good job. Terharu I.. Then, terharu gak tengok Hubby prepared breakfast ( Not that he cook himself! Main tunjuk2..hehe..) with little presents & a cake from Secret Recipe. Siap set meja lagi.. Our breakfast was nasi lemak, mini mutabak, fruit juices & milo. The white bear tu mmg my gift tapi now dah jadi kawan Baby coz she claimed it as hers.

 Mother's Day was not normally a big affair in our household, but I did get something every year at Hubby's initiative. After breakfast we went to Kulim. Saje ronda2. Siap lalu depan my hubby's college which he left years ago. Siap confused lagi antara Kolej Mara Kulim & MRSM PDRM Kulim. When he did his matriculation, it was named MRSM. Now, they call it Kolej Mara Kulim. So, after a few times of going to Kulim previously, we finally found his old college! Punya le lama sampai lupa..Then, had lunch & window shopping at Jusco.
 Yesterday, after ukur jalan, when we got home, I noticed some spotting. Since the same thing happened last week & it stopped, I thought of just ignoring it. But today, it still didn't go away. So, it's time to see Dr Zainol, my gynae. After the scan, we found out we might actually have twin, but 1 foetus was not viable anymore..:-( So, the bleeding was from that sac. It was an awesome feeling of initially conceiving a twin! Tapi semua adalah hikmahNya. We might not be able to cope with twin..or it might be risky for me since this would be my 4th ceaser. Alhamdulillah, the other foetus is fine. Tapi still ke jab gak as a precaution. I was advised to take it easy. Masa Adik dulu kena bedrest for a week. This time kira okay le tak kena bedrest, cuma take it easy je.. Dalam Hubby's family mmg ada adik dia yang twin. In my family, my aunty Mak Chum mmg ada twin. So mmg le ada family history of twins..
