Eid Mubarak 1430

We are still in raya mood but are back to work. This year it was time to celebrate raya in Batu Pahat. We went back on Friday 18th Sep. The journey from Penang to KL was smooth but we were stuck in the jam in Seremban. We found out later it was due to an acident after Seremban R & R. We stopped several times cos Hubby was so sleepy considering he slept for only 3 1/2 hrs the previous nite. Bahaya betul! I was drowsy too.. so memang lah lagi malas nak drive. Sibuk pack barang2 malam tu.. We reached kampung just in time for iftar. Tu pun dah singgah merata & tunggu order sate lagi.

Masa raya I totally forgot to take photos of all the food. Sempat bergambar keluarga je. Kat Hubby's kg, ladies tak ke masjid untuk sembahyang raya which is so different from my kampung & from masa I study dulu. Anyway, memang susah pun nak ke masjid with the princesses around.

We travelled back to Kedah on 2nd raya. Ni actually to avoid the traffic jam. We stopped by at Pak Cik Lin's house in Kajang. Sempat lunch & sambung jalan. Tapi stuck kat traffic jam after Bukit Merah. Tension betul! We were moving 2km in an hour! Patutnya from Bukit Merah to our house it normally took only 45 min but that day we took over 2 hours! Bukannya ada accident pun. Tapi ramai drivers otak kat lutut..Memotong kat emergency lane. So jadi bottle neck le. We all punya geram siap phone PLUS & police traffic lagi hehe.. I remember a few years back, kalau orang memotong kat emergency lane, memang kena saman. So, tak de le orang nak guna emergency lane. But, now ni no action taken. So, ramai le yang selfish & naik lemak! Macam dia je nak cepat.

Since Din & K.Mas kata nak datang beraya kat rumah, so we stopped by at our house. Tup2 diorang tak jadi datang cos they were stuck at Bukit Bendera. Tak tau lak diaorang nak ke BB. Otherwise boleh advise against going there during raya coz selalu train rosak. Since kitaorang pun penat travel, we stopped by at our house & had a good rest.

The following day baru balik Kedah & beraya kat rumah sedara2. All in all, it was a typical raya for us. Dah 'tua2' ni excitement tu dah kurang hehe..Preparation untuk the princesses je yang meriah. Baju raya I pun sempat siap 1 je. Tu pun pagi kitaorang nak balik Johor baru siap. Our tailor tak tido le malam tu..kesian..

After months of planning , negotiating & registration process, we are finally ready to launch our first product. But, I was not really satisfied with the colour of the actual box. Looking at the artwork, the colour was totally different i.e sky blue. After printing, it turned to blue greenish. It looks weird & plain. Oh well, there must be a hiccup for any new product launch.

Now senang tak payah hantar kad raya the conventional way. Semua send guna e-card. Save budgets!:-). Normally every year i send cards to my parents, uncles, aunties & siblings. This year i totally forgot until i received cards from my uncle, Pak Cik Lim & my cousin Bang Cik Moeis. Ni nak kena balas la tapi kalau pos now ni rasanya lepas raya baru dapat kut..hmmm.. Pak Cik Lim ni memang rajin betul hantar kad raya. Siap tempah khas lagi.. Yang lain2 tu from pharmaceutical companies biasak le, for business purposes..

First Raya Cookies

I finally made my first raya cookies last nite. Memang liat nak start buat... But considering I'm going back to Jitra today, kenalah buat jugak coz nak bagi kat mak. The rest i'll pass thru ila next week. Kalau tak, by 2nd or 3rd raya barulah mak dapat my kuih-muih..:-) The princesses tak sempat menyebuk masa i tgh bake coz they were instructed to pick up their toys. Teruk betullah diorang. Time nak menyepah cepat je.. Time nak suruh kemas berjam2 baru siap.. They started to clean up their room from 6pm. By 10pm baru siap! Banyak lak acara selingan in between. Sampai tergolek2 dalam bilik.. Anak2 dara ni kena ajar mengemas dari awal.. kalau tak nanti mama yang teruk kena kemas..haha.. Diorang tension kat Baby coz Baby bukan tolong kemas, tapi tolong sepahkan apa yang diorang dah kemas..:-)

Last nite I decided to make cornflakes cookies. A recipe from k.ummi. A bit modification from kuali.com. It turned out nice & crunchy. I buat 2 adunan. Dapatlah around 150 biji. Cukuplah utk 3 rumah... ours, mak's & MIL's. I ni memang malas nak buat cookies esp masa baking. Preparation time kejap je..but baking took hours! That's why i'd rather make muffins or cakes.

Cornflakes cookies

Bahan:- (anggaran 70 biji)
1/2 cawan butter
1/2 cawan gula kastor
1 biji telor
2/3 cawan kismis hitam (jenama Lego elok halus sikit)
1 cawan tepung naik sendiri (diayak)
2 - 3 cawan cornflakes (ramas2 hancurkan sikit)

Cara Membuat:-
Pukul mentega dan gula hingga kembang. Masukkan telor dan pukul lagi. Dalam bekas lain, campurkan tepung dengan kismis. Kemudian masukkan dalam adunan dan gaul rata. Gunakan sudu teh, cedok adunan jadi ketul dan jatuhkan ke dalam bekas yang berisi cornflakes ramas tadi, golek-golekkan rata. Letak dalam paper cup (cawan kertas). Bakar pada suhu 180 C selama 12 - 15 minit/hingga kuning keemasan. Biarkan sejuk baru disimpan dalam bekas kedap udara.

Note: I 1 tsp tambah esen vanilla & 1 tbs corn flour ikut kuali.com. I simpan doh dlm fridge for 1/2 hour untuk bagi keras sikit.

Hari tu Toh, ila's SIL requested i masukkan gambar2 baju yg i beli masa pegi shopping dengan ila masa sale. Tapi ada satu tak sempat ambik gambar coz ada kat k.Jun for alteration. It was a Garfield & Ode's pants for Alysa. Cantik..siap ada labuci2 lagi..hehe..Ni kira oklah untuk pakai kat rumah. Actually, nak pakai utk jalan2 pun ok gak.. Tak beli banyak sangat coz kitaorang dah shopping baju2 the princesses the previous day.

The dresses yang I beli dengan hubby, tak boleh tayang lagi..:-). Nanti dah tak berseri diaorang nak pakai raya hehe..Tapi cantik & sweet sesangat dimata I & Hubby.

Talking about shopping, Hubby finally got his wish! We finally bought the lcd tv that he wanted to buy the other day. Tapi bukan kat kedai tu, but next door. Tu la i kata kat dia, next time survey dulu.. I think we got a good deal eventhough it was more expensive than the one he wanted to buy earlier. This one has better specs. Luckily ( for whom? ), we found a knowledgeble salesman. I hope we made the right choice in buying that brand. Oh, we also got a new tv stand..:-) I noticed, since previous years, kitaorang masa bulan puasa banyak pulak shopping eventhough tak raya kat rumah pun. 2nd week raya baru ada kat rumah..

19 Ramadhan

Jengah dapur2 orang lain mostly dah buat kuih raya. Well, I'm not in the mood yet to start preparing the cookies. Actually, i was planning to make the cookies this weekend. But, thinking that this is the last weekend before raya, we decided to balik kampung. Since this year raya kat Batu Pahat, kena le spend time before raya kat Jitra. So, I have to postpone my baking to next week. May be I'll do 2 or 3 types of cookies. What I had in mind were semperit, makmur, cornflakes cookies, or choco oat cookies. Tengok la yang mana rajin. But, I have to bake something with cornflakes..

Yesterday was spent shopping again. This time with ila. Shopping baju for the princesses. Since ada la yang request nak tengok baju2 tu, I'll make another n3 after I took photos of the dresses. Sabar ye toh.. :-) Nanti u yang jealous haha.. tu la orang ajak p tak mau...

Hubby lak since i was not around, dia tak jadi le nak shopping for the LCD. Dia kata nanti tak de orang nak check & balance hehe.. We'll go today. Since tv nak baru, kena le pulak cari tv stand barukan... Yesterday, tak ke mana le dia. But he brought home goodies from Delfi marketing. Every year during ramadhan ada le dapat goodies dari sales rep. This year since dapat cereals & chocholate, kena le I wat cookies with cereals. Dah le stok cereals kitaorang pun dah berlambak.

Since mak ayah dah balik mood nak masak tu kureng le. So, as usual la. After 6pm baru masuk dapur. Masak la ala kadar. The princesses senang je, Alysa kalau ada buns, that'd be enough for her. Adik lak nasi, kicap, ghee & egg would be heavenly for her..:D Senang mama. Hubby pulak tak banyak songeh..

Raya Shopping

The past 2 days were spent shopping for raya. I like...:-) On Saturday, Hubby & I went to Pacific Megamall. ( We didn't bring the princesses, but I took their measurements earlier). We managed to buy some gowns for the princesses. I bought a few stuff for myself. Surprisingly, Hubby only bought a t-shirt for himself! I think that was because of the time constrain. We had to get back before 4pm as Hubby had to go to work. So, we only shopped for less than 2 hours. Mana cukup!hehe..Tu pun by the time we got home, Hubby had to rush to the clinic coz patients were already waiting for him.

So, on Sunday we continued the unfinished shopping spree. This time at Jusco. Initially we wanted to leave the princesses with K.Jun but Alysa would rather stay with Tok & Tok Ayah. In the end, we decided to bring her. Ha padan muka nak ikut sangat! Sampai tak terlarat nak jalan. She begged us to please stop for a while. She wanted to just sit down..haha.. This time we bought shoes for the princesses. It was sooo difficult to find shoes for Alysa as she has chubby feet. Most designs for her age were for dainty feet..:D . Finally we bought white & pink sandals for Alysa & Ayra. I got a few stuff for myself too. But, it was weird that Hubby only got a few stuff for himself ( What? still no pants & clothes for u sayang? ) But..But... After zohor prayer we stopped by at an electrical outlet....Guess what? Hubby wanted to buy an LCD tv after surveying those on display. What! Buying a few thousands worth item without surveying other outlets? So, I stepped in. Telling him NO. May be next time after we surveyed a few outlets for different models. Nanti dah beli model tu terberkenan kat model lain nyesal lak! Bukannya nak beli selalu.. I told u he's an impulsive shopper! Oh by the way, while passing by an outlet on the way to the surau , we noticed this nice comforter set( sempat lagi..). Terus sambar satu after solat. We wanted to buy for mak as well but leceh nak bawak. So, we decided to buy for her later. We spent 5 hours at Jusco. No wonder Alysa dah tak larat jalan hikhik.. By the time we finished, it was nearly 5pm. Kelam kabut balik nak masak.

Last nite I temankan mak ke ekspo kat belakang rumah je.. Penat giler shopping yesterday! We found a nice comforter set kat ekspo tu. So, I bought 1 for mak. Tak payah dah ke Jusco to buy 1 for her..She also bought a tikar. I jugak kena bawak tikar tu. Nasib rumah dekat je.. Banyak betul tudung2 with latest trend. Rambang mata.. But I didn't buy 1 yet. I'll go later. Tak pe rumah dekat je..

The past 2 days since mak & ayah ada kat rumah, kena la masak beriya sikit. Ila & family had iftar at my house on Saturday. Masak la apa2 yang patut. But lauk on Sunday lagi meriah. Ada lauk kenduri yang taman I buat untuk berbuka kat masjid. So, every home got the nasi tomato & lauk2. Mak pulak beriya masak kerabu pelam & perut, masak lemak lidah, goreng limpa ( I made this coz mak said I prepared it so nice & soft hehe..). Counting the dishes..memang penuh meja la. But there were only 3 of us for iftar. Hubby berbuka kat dewan komuniti together with the rest of the helpers for kenduri berbuka. Banyak lauk tak habis! But knowing mak, she'd know what to do with them ( May be it'd be the chickens' menu :-) ). Dia angkut bawak balik Jitra today.

Since I forgot to take all the nice& yummy dishes, layan jelah photo the princesses & mini murtabak I made for iftar at ila's house on Friday.

14 Ramadhan

We're halfway thru ramadhan. Dah habis baca quran? Normally, by this time I'd have finished 14 juzuk. But since mc 1 week, I only managed to finish a few juzuk. We have a few qurans at home. But, I only like the majid version ( or is it karim? ) Confuse la pulak! I like the one which has complete baris. The previous years memang boleh khatam quran during ramadhan as I tried to make it a point to khatam quran for each pregnancy. Orang kata elok for babies untuk dengar bacaan quran since dalam kandungan lagi. Insyaallah jadi anak soleh / solehah. Well, tu memang bergantung pada didikan gak..

A few weeks ago, Hubby bought a new quran from Ustaz Rosli. Almost everyone who attended his usrah bought this quran. Very nice. Quran terjemahan with each word being translated. Huraian ada kat sebelah. Kalau selalu baca, boleh tau meaning of all the words. Now, quran ni le I dok baca..

A couple days ago ntah mimpi apa ntah terajin nak masak lebih sikit. Masuk dapur from 5pm. ( Normally after 6pm baru I start masak!hehe.. ). So, dapat la a few dishes. Tapi yang dah selalu masak I tak amik gambar pun.. Tengok dapur Shidah nampak lak resepi pengat pisang. I ate that version before at Sumai's housewarming party. His sister made it. Sedap pulak. Bila nampak resepi Shidah terus rasa nak cuba since ada le a few pisang emas yang ranum & it's sooo simple to make. Thanks Shidah for the recipe. Tapi I adjusted a bit. Then ada lak extra spagheti from mee udang the previous day. I decided to make mee goreng for the princesses. Buat tak pedas. Langsung diaorang tanak makan bila tengok mee goreng. They requested pasta! ( of course with creamy white sauce..). Mama tak kuasa nak masak dah, since masa tu dah berbuka pun..

For lauk I made gulai ayam rebung. The rebung madu was given by mak. Memang sedap (angkat bakul le pulak hehe...) Siap masuk kerisik ( buat sendiri tau..) lagi..

Pengat Pisang Caramel

Bahan:

4 biji pisang

3/4 tin susu cair

2 tbs susu pekat manis

1/2 cwn air

2 helai pandan, simpul

sedikit minyak

Cara:

1. Goreng pisang dengan sedikit minyak sampai keperangan. Angkat.

2. Masak susu cair, susu pekat, air, pandan sehingga mendidih.

3. Masukkan pisang. Masak seketika. Tutup api.

Mee Goreng

Gulai Ayam Rebung

Bahan:

1/2 ekor ayam, potong kecil

10 ketul rebung

2 tbs rempah kari ayam

1 bwg besar

2 bwg putih

1 inci halia

750ml santan

2 tbs kerisik

Sedikit minyak

garam & gula

Bahan tumis: kulit kayu manis, bunga lawang, bunga cengkih

Cara:

1. Tumis bahan tumis dalam sedikit minyak hingga naik bau.

2. Kisar bawang besar, bawang putih, halia. Tumis hingga garing.

3. Masukkan rempah ( + sedikit air). Tumis hingga pecah minyak.

4. Masukkan ayam dan santan. Masak hingga mendidih & ayam empuk. Tambah garam & gula secukup rasa

5. Campurkan rebung diikuti kerisik. Masak sebati.

The princesses lepas solat maghrib..Sambil posing atas sejadah lagi.. Baby muka moyok coz tengah tahan mengantuk! Cranky giler..haha.. Mama tak bagi tidur time maghrib, nanti dia berjaga tengah malam time orang nak tido.

Merdeka

Selamat Menyambut Merdeka to all Malaysians. We should be thankful that we live in a peaceful country & we should be grateful to our forefathers for this freedom.

Our merdeka day was spent balik kampung. Since it was a long weekend, all my siblings took the opportunity to have iftar together. ( Except for Abang Nordin of course, who's in Beijing for the past 2 years). Since everyone was home, Mak beriya masak. We started cooking since 2p.m. It was early by my standard coz I normally started cooking after 6pm...hehe..So after beriya masak our favourite dishes, she managed to come up with 14 dishes!! Tu belum campur kuih-muih. Kuih-muih beli je.. Tapi yang laku betul 'kerabu perut & mangga' & ' masak lemak siput & betik'. Licin...

Petang tu the fathers buat gotong-royong mengecat rumah Mak Ayah. Nasib hujan dah stop. Asyik hujan je... Alysa & Adik were so excited tengok orang mengecat that they missed their afternoon nap. Time orang berbuka, Adik tertidur sambil duduk! The next day dia tertidur sambil berdiri pulak..Puas pujuk suruh tido tanak, time orang berbuka dia yang ngantuk..

Balik rumah, we felt that we ate too much rice during the weekend. So, hubby rasa nak makan mee ( @ spaghetti ). We decided on Mee Udang. After tercari-cari resepi mee udang yang simple & easy, I modified 1 or 2 recipes. Jadi le Mee Udang my version. Kena le for for our tastes. Kalau orang lain tak tau le..

Mee Udang

Bahan-bahan ( 3 - 4 orang)

Mee ( I used vermicelli pasta)

25ogm udang

2 keping dada ayam, potong nipis

1 sb sos cili

3 sb sos tomato

1 kiub stok ayam

* 4 cili kering

* 1/2 bawang besar

* 2 ulas bawang putih

* 1 inci halia

* 1 sb udang kering

2 biji kentang, rebus & lenyek

air secukupnya

garam & gula

minyak

2 biji telur

Bahan hiasan

tomato, hiris nipis

taugeh, celur

bawang goreng

Cara:

1. Kisar bahan bertanda *

2. Panaskan minyak. Tumis bahan kisar sehingga naik bau & garing.

3. Masuk ayam & udang. Kacau rata.

4. Masukkan air secukupnya. Masukkan sos cili & sos tomato diikuti stok ayam.

5. Biarkan kuah mendidih. Masukkan garam & gula. Masukkan kentang lenyek.

6. Bila kuah masak, pecahkan telur satu persatu. Biarkan seketika. Tutup api.

7. Hidangkan mee dalam mangkuk. Tuang kuah. Taburkan bahan hiasan.
