Menu 6 Ramadhan

Yesterday, bila tanya Hubby nak makan menu daging ke ayam? Dia nak makan ayam lak. Since nak masak typical recipes rasa tekak ni tak leh terima pulak. Ternampak la ' Nasi Ayam Belanga' kat dapur Noreen & later kat dapur K.Ummi. So, teringin la nak mencuba. It turned out so good. Hubby makan bertambah lagi.. Even I yang tak berapa lalu makan pun bertambah. But, the princesses tak mau makan lak. Diaorang makan cucur jagung. Cucur jagung ni I think makanan orang utara kut.. coz i remembered when i prepared this in Perth dulu, my friends from KL siap mintak resepi lagi coz they've never eaten it!

Nasi Ayam Belanga

( I C & P je ye Noreen your recipe..)

Bahan-bahan:

2 cawan beras

1/2 ekor ayam - dipotong kecil

1 sudu besar minyak bijan

2 sudu besar kicap manis

1 batang serai - dititik2 helas daun pandan - disimpul

air secukupnya untuk merebus ayam dan untuk dijadikan stok masak nasi

2 sudu besar minyak sapi / marjerin

Bahan2 tumbuk:

1cm halia

3 ulas bawang putih

Bahan2 rempah:

3 kuntuk bunga cengkih, 2 kuntum bunga lawang, 1 batang kayu manis, 3 biji buah pelaga, 1/2 - 1 sudu kecil jintan manis, 1/2 - 1 sudu kecil jintan putih

cara:

1. Rebuskan ayam dengan garam dan serai sehingga empuk . Angkat dan toskan

2. Simpan stok ayam untuk memasak nasi

3. Perapkan ayam dengan bahan2 tumbuk, minyak bijan dan kicap manis sekejap

4. Panaskan minyak sapi

5. Tumiskan bahan2 rempah sehingga naik bau

6. Masukkan beras dan kacau rata

7. Kemudian masukkan stok ayam dan kacau rata . Bolehlah ubahkan beras ke dalam rice cooker dan tutupkan

8. Apabila nasi sudah hampir masak bolehlah diletakkan ayam dan daun pandan. Biarkan sebentar dan kacau2kan supaya masak sekata

9. Lebihan stok ayam tadi bolehlah dibuatkan sup

10. Hidangkan dengan sup, kicap cair, kuah cili atau makan begitu saja

Lepas goreng cucur jagung, tak sempat tunggu berbuka, Alysa & Adik dah beriya nak makan dulu...

Cucur Jagung

Bahan2:

2 jagung, hiris nipis

1-2 ulas bawang merah, hiris

1 1/2 cwn tepung gandum

5 ekor udang saiz L, potong kecil

1 cwn air

1 sk garam ( secukup rasa)

cara:

1. Campur semua bahan hingga sebati.

2. Goreng menggunakan minyak panas hingga kekuningan.

3. Angkat & toskan.

4. Hidang bersama sos pilihan.

Adik's Toilet-train

The 1st time we tried to toilet-train Adik was a few months ago. I guess she was not ready at that time. We relented after a few days of unsuccessful attempt. Lagipun Mama malas nak clean up after her 'accidents'.

Last Sunday we tried again. The morning passed by succcessfully. Came evening, she has an overactive bladder. Kejap2 nak ke toilet. Yelah sejuk kut coz hujan.. While I was taking my nap before cooking for iftar, tengok2 Hubby who just got home from the mosque told me Adik peed on the carpet in our room! Habis hancing satu bilik! Masa ni dia boring main sorang2.. Alysa & Baby were sleeping too. Kesian Cik jun kena cuci carpet the next day..

Malam tu pulak, she peed on another carpet at the dining table while were were having our iftar. Alamak letih la... But luckily I caught her just in time be4 she poo poo. But she freak out seeing her own poops! Melalak2 kat toilet. Oh, she didn't want to use the toilet bowl, but did her thing on the bathroom floor. Kena la mama clean up after her mess! But I think she's better than Alysa. Alysa dulu selalu poo poo dlm seluar. But Adik now on her 4th day of toilet-train never once poo poo in her pants. But, mama la kena clean up after her mess on the bathroom floor. Sigh... She's improving anyway. The 1st 2 days, she had 2 'accidents'. The 3rd day she only had 1 'accident'. Kira ok la tu. Alysa dulu lagi teruk..& we started to train her after her 3rd bday. Adik is not 3 y.o yet. We had to constantly remind her. "Adik nak shoo bagitau ye.. Dengar tak?" which she replied "dengar...". " Ingat tak?".. " ingat.." But she still forgot to tell us sometimes...I hope by the end of the week she won't have anymore 'accident'. Jenuh la mama berleter...But I tried to be patient with her as she's sooo over sensitive.

Yesterday we missed our sahur. Baby berjaga the nite before. So, we didn't hear the alarm. Sedar2 dah 7 am. Nasib le sejuk so tak le letih. For iftar, i didn't feel like eating rice. So, I made mee kuah but using spaghetti as usual.. Rasa refreshing lak. Tekak orang tak sihat. For dessert I made creme caramel which is so easy to make. Alysa suka betul. I only allowed her to eat 2 pieces as it was near her bedtime. Lagipun dia dah bantai a bowl of spagheti & a big bowl of watermelons. Dah overloaded her tummy.

A surprise from Papa

Last week, after watching one of those tv programs, Alysa had been begging for a fish. I told her to go ask from papa...which she did. I thought Hubby had completely forgotten about it. Then last Sunday, he came home from servicing our car, bringing a surprise for the princesses. It's in the form of RM250 aquarium set. Hmm.. with that amount of money spent, it'd be nice if he got me a perfume?? handbag?? or shoes??..hehe..

He was on the way home from doing an errand for me in Kulim after servicing the car, where he saw the fish shop. Terus singgah & beli..( I told u he's an impulsive shopper!) The princesses were so excited seing the fish. Alysa named the goldfish ' Goldie, Dibo, Sasquash, & Oso' after her favourite cartoon characters. The other 2 cleaner fish, we named 'Blackie & Klinnie'. Hentam sajalah...

Actually, this is the first pet that they ever have. Considering how scared they are of animals, fish ni kira oklah coz tak perlu pegang. Kalau nampak cats, diorang dah lari sebatu.. They are even afraid of ants & mossies. I had to tell them that they're bigger than ants & mossies. So, they can swat any ant or mossie that came near them! Now dah oklah dengan ants..

Petang tu I was still not in the mood to cook. So, prepare la food ala2 orang malas. Lagipun tak de appetite sangat. Hubby pun memang tak cerewet. Whatever I prepared, dia makan je... But after terawih Mak kirimkan food thru Ila ada le 6-7 jenis complete with dessert. Ada masak lemak belimbing buluh & ikan tongkol ( my favourite), kerabu perut (another favourite!), gulai rebung, sayur rebung, sambal udang & bengkang roti.. We ate kerabu perut with bubur lambuk coz kerabu tu dah tak sesuai simpan for sahur..

I made karipap. Alysa suka betul. She managed to eat 6-7 pieces! Sambil makan mulut tu dok ngomel ' so good... delicious!' :-) Pandai betul amik hati mama..

Selamat Menyambut Ramadan

Selamat Berpuasa. Semoga mendapat keberkatanNya.

Today is the second day of Ramadan. I welcome the Ramadan with cough & a fever. Berjangkit from Baby le ni.. Yesterday pegi kerja for 2 hours only. Tak larat dah. Balik rumah berbungkus sampai petang since I was feeling very cold & got a headache as well. Fortunately, the princesses understood that mama was not feeling well. So, they left me alone.

Since the chef was sick, we had very simple dishes for iftar. Hubby bought kuih2 at bazaar ramadan which were unfinished. Biasa le kuih beli... tak sedap.. The traders were doing brisk business even though it was raining heavily. Our favourite murtabak was gone by the time Hubby went there at 6.30pm. By this time most food was finished. I guess orang malas masak kut on the 1st day of ramadan. After iftar & 2 panadol later, I was feeling much better. Alhamdulillah, I'm feeling well today. So, petang ni boleh le nak masak banyak sikit. Nak masak apa ye??Hmmm..

Nak sambut puasa bebaru ni terasa lak nak wat Trifle. So ada le balance lagi last nite. As usual le Hubby jadi tong sampah...hehe.. I dah tak selera nak makan. Dia le kena habiskan.

Trifle Pudding

From last week Baby was having a fever, cough & colds. Malam2 mesti muntah after bouts of coughing. Memula tu risau gak...yelah with so many cases of H1N1. Hubby is seing so many patients with these symptoms everyday. Bila dia balik rumah, I made sure he took a shower first before playing with the kids. Tapi kadang2 terbabas gak.. As for me, I thought I had a good immune system. So far tak le sakit even though I was seing sick customers everyday. Tup2berjangkit gak dari Baby.. Sigh.. Alhamdulillah tak le melarat.. I think Baby demam nak tumbuh gigi. Yes! She had her 1st tooth this week! At the same time she can crawl like a bullet & she can take steps ( of course with the help of sofas..).

A Robbery..

On Saturday morning, I heard that Mak & Ayah's house was broken into. They just got back from my house. Mak terus pegi meeting. So, she was not aware that the house was broken into until Ayah told her. Rumah memang tunggang langgang... Habis baju2 dalam bilik Mak & Ayah kena punggah. They found out that all mak's jewelleries were missing. Those jewelleries are worth berpuluh ribu la gak.. Luckily pencuri tu missed duit Ayah & duit khairat kematian yang mak simpan ( a few thousands RM..). Izatul's laptop was also gone. Sedih giler le dia coz banyak degree & master assignments dia were saved in the laptop.

Mak memang lagi sedih. Lembut lutut..Semua jewelleries tu dia kumpul since dia keje dulu & ada gak pusaka from arwah tok Om. Ada jugak she got as gifts. Ada 2 sets I wore on my wedding day. Pearl set which was a gift from Abang Mail when he went to Japan. Kiranya I was the first person who wore the set. As far as I know, mak never wear the set. Another set that i wore on my wedding day was a ruby set. I pun nostalgia la pulak.. Tapi nak wat camna, dah kehendak Allah.

Mak , Kak & Bang Mail went to Izatul's convo at UM since tuesday. Since Izatul also got top awards from her faculty, they had to attend the ceremonies on wednesday & thursday. They got back to Penang on Friday. Lepak overnight kat Penang. Saturday morning baru balik Kedah. So, Ayah stayed at my house for 5 days & anak2 kak & tok stayed kat Ila's. Rumah kosong for 5 days..

Fikir2 balik, alhamdulillah semua selamat. Kalau la tok & anak2 kak stayed at home, & perompak tu masuk, lagi haru.. Yang penting nyawa selamat. Nowadays, perompak sanggup go to any extend to get what they want. Especially addicts. We suspected orang yang pecah rumah kat kg ni addicts coz kat kg sebelah tu ramai addicts.

On Sunday afternoon, we got an info barang mak dah kena gadai kat Alor Setar. Nasib le ada sedara tokey kedai emas, so dia ada la informants yang bagi tau pasal barang tergadai kat pajak gadai. Hopefully all will end up soon & pencuri2 tu tertangkap. Pencuri2 tu sorang baru keluar jail, sorang lagi pelarian after jadi buruan polis from previous cases.

Thanks to all yang mendoakan & buat solat hajat untuk Mak & Ayah. Looks like Allah maha mendengar doa2 kita coz the next day we found out the suspects. Izatul ( my niece ) punya la terkejut sampai demam. Dia still trauma sampai tak leh masuk bilik dia coz bilik dia was one of the rooms yang kena selongkar teruk! Ayah terkejut sampai mimpi2.. Yelah dia yang 1st sekali sampai rumah masa tu. Nasib dia tak apa2 considering he has heart problems. Mak still lembut lutut..
