Hopeless Baby Sitter

Yesterday as usual Alysa wanted to go to the playground. But, since Baby was asleep after finishing off her milk we stayed home. Adik wanted to play at our backyard. So, Alysa said 'Kakak jaga baby lah..' Well, actually she'd rather watch her cartoons than play in the backyard.

So, I was out with Adik. Adik played 'masak-masak' with our next door neighbour, Amirul & I was talking to K.Liza. After 1/2 hour I heard a loud wail. After rushing inside I found out Alysa & Baby were crying. Alysa was louder.. Bila tanya sape nangis dulu? Dia cakap Baby. Putting two & two together , actually, Baby woke up & cried. But since the babysitter aka Alysa didn't know what to do, she wailed louder than Baby to attract my attention. Well, her method worked but it'd be much easier if she just called mama to tell me Baby was awake. Well..kid's logic! sigh...

Last nite another project menghabiskan stok. This time bread. So, I made bread pudding which was Alysa & Adik's favourite. So simple to do.. Just took 15 minutes!

Pie oh pie

Last weekend after watching another 'pie' episode on Wordworld, Alysa requested for pie. ( The episode where Pig ate all the pies..see.. I even remembered the scenes since they have been airing it for like 100x a month! ) Being a good mama, I made one :-). Since she loves anything cheezy, I made Cream Cheese & Peach Pie. Of course it didn't resemble the ones that Pig ate! Mine was much better.hehe..

Cream Cheese & Peach Pie

Ingredients:

Pie base ( 9")

1 1/4 cups all purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup ice water

Filling

250gm cream cheese

1 egg

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

1/2 cup castor sugar

Peach slices

Almond flakes

Direction:

1. In a large bowl , combine flour & salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in water, a tablespoon at a time until mixture forms a ball. Refrigerate for 1/2 hour or longer.

2. Roll dough out to fit a 9" pie plate. Place crust in a pie plate. Press the dough evenly into the bottom & sides of the pie plate.

3. Preheat oven to 220'C.

4. Combine the cream cheese & sugar. Add in the egg followed by vanilla essence. Mix well.

5. Pour the filling into the pie shell.

6. Arrange peach slices on top.

7. Bake for 10 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 200'C. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle Almond flakes on top. Bake until brownish.

Since we all balik kg on saturday after attending 2 weddings, we brought the pie along with us. They managed to finish off the pie within 5 minutes! That good huh? No lah.. actually yang makan tu ramai sangat tu le yang cepat habis..:-) Alysa managed to eat 1 slice only.

Back at kg, baby melalak everytime Nyang( Great grandmother for Kedahans) or Tok Ayah tried to play with her. Actually, I noticed for quite some time that she's afraid of old people. With kids , teenagers & adults, she's okay. Susah betul la orang2 tua nak dekat. Tapi dengan tok dia ok pulak.

Yesterday Alysa was showing K.Jun her tummy. May be she herself was astounded at the size of her tummy! wakaka.. Mana taknya asyik mengunyah je until I had to tell her to stop. Yelah after eating 1 stuff after another, she complained of having tummy ache. So as usual amik le the trusty minyak telon to rub on her tummy. But she's so ticklish.. therefore tak boleh la urut lebih2.

Last nite saja ja ukur her waist size. ( Macam perut 5mths preggie! ). Tak de keje betul mama dia hehe.. Her waistline is 23 1/2". Sikit lagi nak sama size masa mama dia before kawin which was 26 or 27". And she's only 4 y.o! Adik's waist size is 18". Baby tak ukur la pulak eventhough they kept pestering me to measure baby's waist.

Masa maghrib semalam buat projek menghabiskan stok blueberry jam. Since the entire household don't eat bread with jam, I had to do something with the jam. I bought it to make blackforest cake for mother's day. So, there was 1/2 jar left.

Blueberry Muffin

Senang & sedap bangat resepi Yani ni. Even Adik the picky eater managed to finish off 2 cups. Alysa just ate the part without the blueberry.

Ingredients: ( for 6 )

70gm butter

50gm sugar

1 egg

2 drops vanilla essence

4 tbs milk

100gm all purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

Blueberry jam

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 180 'C

2. Cream the butter & the sugar.

3. Add in the egg followed by vanilla essence & milk. Beat well.

4. Combine the flour & baking powder. Mix in well into the egg mixture.

5. Fill the batter into 1/2 of the muffin cup. Then, add 1 tsp blueberry jam followed by another 1 tbs of the batter.

6. Bake for 35 minutes.

Last night the princesses were in good mood. The other 2..ok je mood diorang. Selalunya Adik yang nak buat hal. But since she was stuffed at K.Jun's, balik rumah mood okla..

Baby macam terkezut je tengok papparazzi amik gambar haha.. Alysa as usual suka bergambar. Ada potential nak jadi model ni. :-) Rambut Adik menjadi2 lak malam ni. Terlebih volume!

On a different note, yesterday my neighbour's mom passed away. So, pegi ziarah before pegi keja. Tunggu sampai jenazah ke kubur. Takziah K.Ilah & family. Semoga roh allahyarhamah dicucuri rahmatNya. Alfatihah.

Tadi teman Hubby pegi survey fridge. The existing fridge doesn't meet the requirements needed by the MOH. The refrigerated items that we have only took up only 10% of the space with the current fridge.. and we need to find bigger one ( may be double or triple the size!). We need to find 1 with separate door for freezer. 2 doors fridge.. Talk about regulations! GPs would know what I'm talking about...

Just now baby fell off the bed, but a thick carpet broke her fall. Melalak la terkezut + sakit la sikit. She rolled over so fast on the bed that in a blink she was on the the carpet! Next time memang tak boleh letak atas katil la budak ni...

Mama...Mommy..

Tonight apa ntah mimpi Alysa, she started calling me mommy & Hubby..daddy. Mommy this & mommy that.. Adik pun ikut la...There was a phase when she called me ibu. Tu ikut her cousins la. When she heard me called her grandma 'mak' at some other time, she followed suit. So for the timebeing I'm mommy to her :-). Layan je lah...until she got bored.

We called Alysa mat salleh celup coz she loves western food. When she spoke in English mesti ada American English accent.. the way she pronounced her 't' & her ' r'. Hai..bergulung lidah. The other day when she spelled 'water' and pronounced it in american accent, I asked her to repeat it ( saje je..), she realised it. So, tersipu-sipulah dia & pronounced it in manglish. Not that I discouraged her. But sometimes I'm amazed with her ability to come out with sentences / phrases that we've never taught her. Pengaruh astro PHDC le ni especially 'Mickey Mouse Clubhouse , 'My Friends Tigger & Pooh' & 'Wordworld'. Tu belum sekolah... Belajar sendiri je.

Today I made bubur durian jagung for tea. Just to finish off last night's durians. Since initially Alysa seemed not so interested ( coz ada masuk durian ), so I gave some to K.Jun. Back from K.Jun's she asked for the porridge, but just the corns. She ended up finishing the porridge with Adik. Adik since kampung's taste, suka le..
